To be honest, when we first came across the latest Casio G-Shock GMW-B5000TR we were convinced that this was a clever after-market strap that someone put together. However, it turns out that it was Casio themselves who took the few variations of their full metal 5000 series and created this outlandish G-Shock, and we mean that in the best possible way.
You may already be familiar with the silver and gold versions of the full metal square Casio G-Shock which were already pretty cool in their own right. Here were robust and chunky watches meant to make a statement on the wrist. Well, if making a statement is what you are going for, the new GMW-B5000TR will fit right into your collection.
The GMW-B5000TR doesn’t just represent an aesthetic variation over its predecessor, it is also crafted from a brand new titanium alloy from TranTixxii. This special alloy took over six years to develop in collaboration with the Nippon Steel Corporation and delivers twice the hardness of titanium while still maintaining all the lightweight properties. Traditionally most brands finish titanium with a matte surface as it is incredibly difficult to polish. With this alloy however Casio has managed to achieve a mirror finish on the surface. And in case you are wondering, the colour on the individual links were achieved through a multicolor ion plating process.
The watch itself will come with everything you would expect out of a modern Casio G-Shock including smarphone link functionality, automatic time adjustment, world time and many others.
Due to its long development time, it is not that surprising that Casio has decided to price the new G-Shock GMW-B5000TR at MYR 6,999.
